  Afeez Agoro Oladimeji, a well-known Nollywood actor and the tallest man in Nigeria, has passed away. According to reports, Afeez passed away on Wednesday night following a battle with the condition known as Acromegaly. The actor was transported to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where he later died after complications occurred.

After learning that she has been certified by Guinness World Records as the new record holder for the longest cooking by a single person, Chef Hilda Baci sobs with excitement. "Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes," Guinness World Records stated in a statement on its website on Tuesday. In a video posted to her Instagram Story, Baci sobbed in joy over the news, giving God praise. Hilda tried to break the record by working 100 hours, but her final tally was reduced by over seven hours.

Story culled from  Punch The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five men for allegedly exhuming corpses and selling their parts for ritual purposes. According to police authorities, the suspects –, Jamiu Adeleke, Ajibade Rafiu, Fatai Akiwowo, Kazeem Sanni and Agboola Kolawole – had at different times sold human parts in Owode, Ogun State.

A 62 year old retired vice-principal has been arrested by the Imo state police for allegedly killing his mother and hiding her corpse in his house since 2003. Dr. Chimezie Osuigwe was arrested after the embalmed body of his mother was discovered hidden in a cupboard in his house yesterday Monday April 14th by another family member.  Police say the body of the woman, Lucy Osuigwe, who was declared missing in 2003, 'was found i n a large cupboard inside a shrine in a private room in a circumstance depicting ritual practice.' The police believe the retired educationist and devotee of the Guru Maharaji sect, killed his mother for ritual purposes. Dr. Chimezie Osuigwe is being held for first degree murder.

More than 2,000 Nigerians living in border villages in Borno State have reportedly fled as a result of the ongoing military operations targeted at routing insurgents from the area under the emergency rule. The fleeing villagers were said to have headed to the neighbouring Niger Republic. “Most of the residents of border villages of Borno have fled to Niger. About 2,000 people from Abadan, Malam Fatori and other villages are now refugees in Difa, Niger Republic,” a top security officer told one of our correspondents on Sunday. The source said that the Joint Military Task Force was on the trail of members of the Boko Haram sect, who were dislodged from the Sambisa Game Reserve and other camps on Thursday in Borno State. It was learnt that residents of Maiduguri and other communities far from the border, who did not want to be caught in the cross-fire had also fled to some neighbouring states, including Kano and Bau. According to a story in Encomium magazine, the family of former Liberian president and war crimes prisoner, Charles Taylor, have been ejected from their N2.5million per year rented mansion in Diamond Hills in Calabar, Cross Rivers state. The family he left behind in Calabar as he faced criminal charges in The Hague were ejected because they were unable to per their rent. The house belongs to Dr. Joseph Wayas, the Second Republic Senate President. His wife and kids, who have since been abandoned by the former president's friends and business associates, now live in a small flat at the state housing estate along Murtala Mohammed highway in Calabar. No aides, no cruising of luxury cars, no partying, no money to spend lavishly. That's their new life now.
